Welcome to Professional Teacher Education Programme in OAMK
 (Oulu university of applied sciences)



Professional teacher education programme is currently possible to take 5 different university of applied sciences in Finland. Professional Teacher education in Oulu is well known for competence oriented teacher education. We have contact days in Oulu twice. And other sessions are via webinar online.
Our first start up days from 29.8- 31.8. 2022
It was multicultural, relaxing, learning, remembering, socialising moments for me.
There are various reasons why all students are here to take professional teacher education programme.

To introduce myself,

I am here to learn more effective and practical competences as subject teacher of society in Finland in the future. 
What is meaning of competence? And How and what kind of competences can be shown and evaluated during study?

I would like to say competence is what I can do, and feel confident for job.
To be a vocational teacher,
I go through personal study plan, self evaluation according to 60 study credits points curriculum from the beginning of study.  I act as a teacher to teach during study time and welcome to receive any feedbacks I got. Act as teacher is most fresh and surprise to have proper mindset during contact days in Oulu.


Be talkative

Those 3 contact days in Oulu were impressive in good way for me to think about my own personalities.

I just kept in mind in Oulu.

1. Do not be shy
2. Be talkative
3. Start blog 
4. Be active
5. Teacher is researcher

    Hi Jin, I think reflection is an important part of learning. Also moving outside your comfort zone is a big step in self-improvement. It was great to see your "keep in mind"-list on your blog as Oulu contact days were definitely much more than just learning something new.

    As a small suggestion, perhaps it would have been interesting to see your reflection on the small teaching exercices we did during those initial days. ALso a slight technical suggestion: Perhaps it will be easier to read the blog if all your text is left centered?

    Great to hear that you feel confident on your specialist teaching subject, you are already more than half way into becoming a teacher. Rest will follow and I look forward to the teaching sessions with you and the rest of the ProPeda-class in the coming year.

    I think your reflection is informative from multiple perspectives. For a non-particepent, it introduces the program nicely. Furthermore, you have highlighted the nature of the program, your own competencies and future goals. I really like how you have comeup with the note to self, in an effort to provide a guideline to achieve your desired learning goals. Considering that these were first contact days, the abstract level thinking culminating into "things to do" is well thought out.
    I was not able to attend the first contact days, therefore reading your post gave me a good understanding of the main take aways from those days!

Learning diary 1( teaching practice)

  Analysis about pedagogical approach during teaching practice Pre assignment provided for students  to have good motivation and basic knowledges about European Unions, how it has been built, Finland history to join as European Unions's member and what is important value etc. As a flipped classroom approach, teacher's role and absence or not are significant to activate student's self learning in advance before teaching class. But student's memory skills depends vary. A flipped classroom approach is suitable for special needs students to have active participation while class or repeated learning to have certain knowledges and information. Competence in eco - social culture and sustainable future (14.12.2022)

Fatima had own webinar to introduce us about innovation on sustainability a higher education perspective on 14.12.2022.   As starting session, We all participated in writing own comments by responding on her question like  " what is sustainability? " Comments were meaningful and vary answers gave me to think that people care about sustainability as society's member. And interestingly some of comments were focused on circular economy, recycling and waste.    Fatima introduced about different scholar's perspectives.   1.Rittel & Weber 1973 which defined sustainability as wicked problem.  2.
